Does anyone know when/if the movie 'The Rum Diary' still slated for production?

Or any other Hunter S. Thompson works that will involve Jonny Depp. I've heard rumors for years about different projects such as th Rum Diary and the Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved. Possibly with Terry Gillam singed on as director. Any info appreciated.
